We welcome Georgina McMaster for her Twelfth consecutive Annual Solo Show with our gallery.
McMaster is Scotland’s leading animal and wildlife artist.
Her line-up for this show reflect a post-Covid research trip to the Masai Mara, Kenya in 2022 together with her studies of Scottish Wildlife.
Georgina very deliberately presents the animals in close-up, to allow us to study them in detail. This proximity is also designed to make the animal appear friendly and almost human. If you look at her paintings, you can get a sense of the softness of the fur or feathers on the beast and can see right into the animal’s eye, which gives it a sense of ‘soul’ and you feel that the animal is capable of ‘human-like’ emotions.
In painting her animals and wildlife, McMaster is elevating and highlighting the importance of animal species to our lives and indeed our natural eco-system.
She is reminding us of their presence.
Born in 1980, Georgina trained at the Edinburgh College of Art ECA (1998-2002).
In her words, she loves animals; she was brought up with four cats, a dog and three horses.
McMaster’s figurative studies are simply stunning and will have a great artistic presence on any of your walls.
