BIOGRAPHY

Greg Dobson grew up in the Midlands of England, before moving to Lochalsh. Greg trained in Industrial Design, and has a degree in Ceramics and Glass. Greg enjoys working on Community arts projects and teaches at the High School, working creatively with the children.

Greg’s interest in nature, paper folding and recycling has inspired his metalwork sculptures. He enjoys ‘blending’ different disciplines and the challenge of creating something from someone else’s rubbish. His work is inspired by nature – especially that of Skye and Lochalsh.

“I take my inspiration from my environmental surroundings and more recently I've been working in plasma cut steel. My work is defined by its processes and the minimal surface finish that it requires both for indoor and external use and the shadows and light that the sculpture casts.”



Greg is well known for his ability to capture colours, textures and movement in his beautifully crafted steel and has produced some large public commissions.
